We have been very busy

Starting with the Tulla Pipe band for our opening

Sailing up and around King Johns Castle and then finishing tonight with 12 new beginners completing their first night of training.   to say it has been a small bit busy is a small bit of an understatement and to Top it all off we have up to 30 boats competing for the GP 14 Munster Championship this weekend.

Saturday 27th April was the official opening of Cullaun Sailing Clubs new clubhouse.  There was a very large turnout on the day where the Tulla Pipe Band led the attendees into the sailing compound.   The building and the boats were then blessed by Fr Brendan Quinlivan and Dean Maurice Sirr.  Speakers on the day included Rory Carberry from the Irish Sailing Association, John Sweeney from Clare Sports Partnership and Mike Hogan on behalf of Clare Local Development Company and Jim O Sullivan Commodore of Cullaun Sailing Club.  The Ribbon was cut by two fo the founding former members who were there for the first official opening 40 years ago and they were Der O Mahony  and Chris Davis.

There was a great crowd of locals and sailors from the neighbouring clubs.  Killaloe Coastguard were also present on the day to compliment us on our premises.   The day was very windy and although we couldn’t have any TRY Sailing on the day we did have twenty people who went out on the Sunday.

After that it was on to Riverfest Limerick where we sailed 4 of the City One Boats between Thomond bridge and Sarsfield bridge
Thanks to  Rachel Thunder  for the River fest images   and Pat Biesty, Alan and  Roger Duff for the great images that they captured at our open day  Click on the links for the full gallery

Opening of the new Clubhouse at Cullaun Sailing
Last but by no means least

The GP14 Fleet from all provinces will battle it out for the Munster Championship & Purcell Trophy at Cullaun Sailing Club on this weekend May 11th & 12th 2019.  Even if you arent sailing this is a event that you should come down to see

We would like to welcome the GP14 fleet to Cullaun Sailing Club for the first GP event ever to be held here, and the first one design fleet regatta to be held here in many years.

This event is a historic and exciting event for our club and we look forward to seeing you all at the  GP14 Munsters in Cullaun Sailing Club, with hopefully good sailing weather and 2 days of exciting racing, BBQ, Music and more.  The club is small and as you all know many hands make light work so if you can spare some time to help with registration or Shore duty then please contact Des Mac Mahon on 086 8246760.  It will be a great showcase for the club and any time you can spare to help will be greatly appreciated.  After the Sailing on saturday we will be having a Bar B Que and if you can bring a salad or dessert then Please contact Lelia on 087 9732936.

Thanks again for all of your help and support to date.
