Race Results July 2017 Races 5&6

Hi All,

we had another great turn out in numbers with 11 boats on the water on Thursday evening. Also great to see our newer members Irene, Daire and Frank gaining some good experience crewing and undoubtedly picking up golden tips on boat handling and race strategy from their helms.

The wind started out at a decent F3 and the OOD had defied convention to race 4 triangles without a sausage in sight. However after the first beat the wind dropped to the slightest breath and the race was shortened to just two triangles. Margaret with a temporary crew of out Senior Instructor, Fionn were first over the line, with Tommy Scott & Mick Laffan staying close enough to Sean Hynes and Mike O'Dea in the RS to claim second place once PY boat speed was factored in.

The wind came up again for the start of the second race and even with slight lull again in the middle triangle the breeze stayed decent until the end. Margaret and Fionn again  took the honours with the two RS200s taking the next two spots.

After all the boats were tidied a way Gallagher's in Kilkishen provided sandwiches and a few refreshments for the thirsty sailors. Again great to see the flag being flown for the social side of the club also.

See you all again tomorrow night.
